From Oregon to Texas

We made it to Texas! I meant to document the whole journey but there was no way as I was driving and had my tablet packed away.

Here are some pictures:

It was mostly uneventful. I did find that carpooling with someone who has had a TBI is harder than I expected. I think I just forgot how hard it was to be the person who helped process emotions.

My car had me, Autumn, and my MIL for half of the trip. The other half was Hubby, Autumn, and me. I liked both combinations for different reasons. By the time we made it to TX I was thoroughly exhausted though, and I think I'm still dealing with a POTS flare-up as a result. Tips that made it easier for me:

  • Wear compression stockings!
  • I also wore compression on my tummy
  • Drink tons of water, and then drink some more
  • Get out and walk as often as you can
  • Pack lots of salty snacks
  • Whenever the car is stopped and you aren't walking, elevate your feet on the dash. That helped me a lot.
  • Don't feel shy at rest stops--stop and stretch, nobody cares
  • When you can, get plenty of sleep
  • Always start the day with a good breakfast

These are the tips that helped me the most; let me know if there was anything I missed!

Blessings,

Jessica
